In past years The Hur Herald has published the faces of Calhoun folks who lived on the lower West Fork of the Little Kanawha and its tributaries. Their names are mostly unknown. The photos are from a collection taken in the early 1900's by Daniels Run resident Ferris Barr. Interestedly, a few have been identified and the captions have been added.By Sidney Underwood. He was about 94 (Nov. 2022). He held forth on the Right Fork of Crummies Creek, having been discovered ill at his cabin last Spring. Parsons of Crummies Creek was on the fringe of the Bear Fork Wilderness, with up to 25 Families once living there, with only a handful of survivors in 2022. His body has been returned to the Calhoun sod.
