Johnson Century model 100 was first introduced in 1955 in 1962 it became the model 100B in 1995 Johnson released the 40th anniversary model,and in 2000 the 45th anniversary came out and all were made in USA. My first reel was a Johnson model 100 given to me by my father in 1966, I still own that reel today. The Johnson 100B was first seen in catalogs in 1963, so to answer your question, the first 100B's were made in late 1962. They continued on until 1979 in catalogs by the Johnson Reel Co. The third and final patent for the for the Johnson Century Model 100B was issued on March 6, 1962. The only change was an improvement to the drag system. The early Model 100s were calibrated from 0-6, whereas the 100B was calibrated from 0-8 allowing the use of heavier line.
