For the most part sheen/effect is up to personal preference, however you can always get more for Fire Horns / Tornado kits and for Team Shine / Violet kits. Team Shine + Fire Horns kits especially are the highest-value by far. Hypno Beam is to be avoided or sold at buy order prices, even with Team Shine not a lot of people like or want it.

Having personally done this myself, applying temporarily untradeable killstreak kits to a tradeable weapon transfers the trade date. Once the 7 days passes, your killstreak weapon is once again tradeable. As Aaron mentioned, this wasn't always the case, but was patched during 2014's Smissmas update.Killstreaker keeps track of your kills during each life while you are playing, then resets when you die.
