Meaning it runs on your computer, where as tradovate is a web based application so it runs on the web. The one thing that ninjatrader has over tradovate is that it allows you to pretty much connect to any broker of your choice. Futures brokers usually list their cost per side, so for 1 MES contract it's $0.61 per side if you're not paying for a membership, which works out to $1.22 per round turn per contract. Tradestation is more expensive than Tradovate and puts a lot of their information about their fees in the fine print.The futures commissions on tda are nasty indeed. ~$5 per contract round trip. Terrible. But I like the interface and I think using ActiveTrader is easier and more intuitive than most other platforms I’ve tried.
