Lately I've been noticing a weird squeeling/chirping noise when putting my foot down in lower to mid RPM range. it seems to start abruptly and then stop nearly as abruptly when it reaches a certain RPM, then if I shift below that RPM it start up again leading me to believe it is somewhat tied to the engine RPM.

Ok, if there is an issue with the lifter or a valve issue inside the engine, it's normally going to run a little bit rough. I would probably have a second shop take a look. It could be an exhaust leak causing the noise, or possibly a timing chain tensioner. Another possible cause could be the timing chain.
