Jeep patriot throttle body reset.

Usually a common problem. Surprised you got 100,000mi. without it. The throttle body is about $200 for a decent one. The dealership will charge an arm and a leg. It is a repair you can do yourself. The sensor is integral to the throttle body and cannot be replaced separate, so if it's not the wiring, the whole thing has to go.Now on the right side of the throttle body is a black steel bracket. I loosened the 12mm bolt holding the bracket to give me more clearance removing the TB. IThe connector is rather simple, push the tabs on either side and wiggle it free. Then reverse to install. Now I cannot reset the ECU at all, it is STUCK in limp mode. Perhaps there is another reset procedure I am unaware of... P.S. So far I have taken out the throttle body and cleaned/replaced, as well as replacing the MAP sensor on the intake manifold, all to no avail. I do have the throttle body coming soon from Amazon.

In the throttle body installation instructions for 2020 there's no mention of that. If you removed the intake manifold to replace the spark plugs I'd be more focussed on the manifold gaskets and vacuum line connections based on the surging rpms you're experiencing.
