I usually count on 32mpg for highway only. The manual transmaission makes all the difference for the 240D. Many things effect MPG.As many know, I swapped a 617 into a 380SL chassis. This swap was extremely easy because it so happened that the 107 used the same front subframe as the W114/115 which came with an OM 617, so the engine literally bolted in. While cruising Facebook Marketplace I stumbled on a semi-local 1986 Toyota 4Runner that had already been swapped with a 1985 OM617. Posts: 3,339. Later .3s, .4s, .5s, and .6s have the starter on the other side. Unlike a .3/4/5 the .6 does have a removable bell housing. Remove the bell housing from the .6, chop it down, chop the end off a sacrificial 617 .3, tig weld together. It could be done.
