I got the Black Ice one. I just made 1 of everything in the 'hardened steel' weapon category, then returned to the Temple of the Frost. I forged it all into a black ice version, collected everything to my inventory, and it popped. The temperature one, I'm still having issues with. I tried your suggestion of using the volcano.
