I had a very strange graphics issue after trying to use gshade that only got fixed by going into the ffxiv directory and deleting the gshade .dll and .ini files. Personally, I don't think the game needs much, I just have a little more sharpness and saturation. You can barely tell the difference from Vanilla. Everyone used gshade because it was simpler. One big thing that stands out is gshade shaders cut out the UI for you so your ability buttons don't change colors with the background. Rename your d3d11.dll inside the game folder to dxgi.dll and it should work again. Steam shares the overlay hook with Gshade. Steam and discord overlay tend to be really buggy. Most disable them for this reason. There is some setting you need to change on the gshade installer for the overlay to work.
