May 14, 2006 · Psilocybe caerulipes grows solitary or cespitose in deciduous forests interspersed with American Beech (Fagus grandiflora). on hardwood slash and debris and on or about decaying hardwood logs (particularly Birch (Betula), Beech (Fagus), and Maple (Acer), especially along river systems . Growing in the spring to fall after warm rains. It very well could be P. ovoideocystidiata. Some of the posts here freak me out, but I'm glad you are responsible enough to know better. I'm just going off of the two pics provided. I live in Cincy and would absolutely LOVE to put some of those spores under the microscope. But you know.. internet strangers are often more dangerous than mushrooms.Am I wrong or did this season end fast. I found my first on may 1st here and they are already turning bad. Only lasting a couple of days and turning to mold.As a tip not all of the mushrooms on that list will be worth hunting for.
