However, on the 16” vs 20” question, go 20” because the 16” with Mid-Length gas has been problematic. Got a like, and it brought me back here, so I'll just throw in an update. Got the H3 buffer, and it made the ejection perfect with 7.62x51. I wasn't able to look at the pattern with .308 because I was in a stall, but it functioned fine.

Doesn't save weight nor lop/oal. If sfar was an in between the 15 and 10 as far as cartridge length/mag size goes, then yes it would be a good concept (I feel that way anyway). Mag design for coal of 2.400"-2.600" other than using ar10 type 2.800" or m118 mags.
