Plastic/polymer stock with alum bedding block. The Oryx is a tank. Alum with plastic panels. Both work, depends on what you are going to do with the rifle. Hunting rifle to carry, KRG BRAVO hands down. PRS, blind hunting, sitting on a mountain, or a ridge, the Oryx. JMHO.

With the cheek rest down, a bore guide and cleaning rod clears easily. That's one of the reasons I like the XRS. Have you had any experience with the MDT XRS for field shooting/hunting? At this moment I can't comment on whether I prefer a stock or a chassis but I do prefer the look of the chassis. I'm torn on this as there's not a lot of Bravo's here so I can't get real world comparisons from anyone here.

KRG practically invented this sub-$400 class of functional chassis/stock and the shooting public has embraced the Bravo to the point that MDT and XLR and even McMillan have inserted products into this niche.

I never played with weighting it to balance. They have a slot on the MDT that works with the bottom bolt release. It's better than nothing, but not great for releasing the bolt.

I have heard some guys trying to add weight to their Bravos for balance and recoil improvement. Oryx is newer so haven't heard as much feedback yet. I cant answer for MDT on this but I will tell you that you will want the adjustable latch if you will be switching back and forth between the AW and AICS magazines because the height will be different! In saying that, the XL had the ability to mount the m-lok weights to and more accessories (like a m-lok front bag rider) to the forend.
