I had similar issues in the past and used the mod to mark the step as complete to allow me to continue. Master mason won't be sand stone or stone brick, try some of the T3 buildings. Its silly, but yes you need to use the mask to get the update. It seems to trigger as soon as you wear the mask during a sand storm, even if you wear it just for a second and only in the storm for a second. Use your sandstorm mask next time. That worked for me. Ya beat me to the punch Natjur.

I remember for some of the "craft x " journey steps, you don't have to craft it. You just have to pick it up. So if you already have one or find it on an enemy, you just have to transfer it to your inventory.
