I've always liked the combination of the alloy lower and a 17 - 18" barrel. The rifle is a bit lighter and shorter, and the balance point is pretty close to the all steel 50.00 configuration. Might be just my imagination, but the alloy lower/21" balance just feels a wee bit "off", although certainly not a huge issue.

I couldn't use the DSA Para rear sight with a Type C as I recall. These are uglier but stronger than the others with regard to recoil-related splitting. If you're talking about the two-position sight, I'm not sure why they wouldn't work. The 1st Libyan contract rifles used a Type C stock with that type of rear sight.
