What a trip up the mountain. This is the second time I've ridden the Cog Railway, the first time was 30+ years ago. The trains and railway have been updated and are much more modern now. The trip up is spectacular with all of the scenery as you climb from about 6500 feet to over 14000 feet.

The train is roomy and comfortable. There are two seats on one side of the train and three on the other-side. The views from the three seat side are slightly better but the views from either side are incredible. Once you reach the summit the views are panoramic and the picture taking is easy-breezy. It uses a Marsh rack system and both steam and biodiesel powered locomotives to carry tourists to the top of the nountain.The railway is about 3 miles long. The train ascends the mountain at 2.8 miles per hour and desends at 4.6 miles per hour.Steam locomotives take about 65 minutes to reach the top.
