Larger places take cards but small cafes and bars are cash only. There are plenty of cash points around (watch out for the ones that charge high fees). If you are just trying to get to Croatia as cheaply as possible though I would be wary of any layover unless you get a very good price across the Atlantic. My husband and I sailed with Unforgettable Croatia on the Memories small ship May 2023 for a cruise around the Adriatic Islands. The ship was incredible and the staff outstanding.It really depends if you're looking for really intense nightlife or a quiet, relaxing time. Hvar is the former and Brac is the latter. Both offer amazing nature and a rich itinerary in culture and gastronomy. Brac is also better for sports, adventures etc. The view from the Vid's mountain is precious and can't be matched by any view from Hvar.It is hot, bring water and a snack. There are toilets and 2 bars/cafes along the walk. All of the beaches in Croatia are rock or pebble, many also have sea urchins, which you do not want to step on, so water shoes or sea shoes are a definite must.
